Life & Politics
Politics without principle is just power. These pages are about recovering the principles — life, dignity, ordered liberty — that make self-government possible.
Some Christians think faith and politics don't mix. I disagree. The public square does not become neutral when Christians leave it — it just gets filled by something else. We are called to be salt and light, and that includes civic life. Not with anger, not with tribalism, but with clarity and charity.
First Principles
Every political question flows downstream from this one. A society that cannot protect its most vulnerable members has lost its moral foundation. Life is not a political position — it is a first principle.
Freedom without virtue is not freedom — it is license. The Founders understood this. True liberty is ordered toward the good, and it requires a people capable of governing themselves.
Every healthy society is built on healthy families. When the family fractures, everything downstream fractures with it — schools, communities, civic institutions. Rebuilding starts at home.
Problems should be solved at the lowest level capable of solving them. The federal government is not the answer to every question. Local communities, families, and parishes are often better equipped — and more accountable.
